Asking for Prayer: Blogger Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit Loses Health Insurance, Receives Soul-Ugly Leftist Email

Maggie’s Notebook

If you read conservative blogs, you know Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit. If you are far Left, Progressive and/or voted for Barack Obama, you know Jim’s work and find it necessary to take large doses of chalky tablets to cure your indigestion. Jim has had a tragic three months, been close to death and by virtue of ObamaCare has lost his health insurance and perhaps the doctors who recently saved his life. He is facing more surgeries in the coming months. A few days after Jim asked his readers for prayer and quoted Psalm 143: 1, 2, and 8 he received the message below the photo via email (language alert, there’s no way I can add a few asterisks to spare you):

Jim Hoft with Dr. Richard Lee

Jim thought he had a cold. Three days later he learned it was a strep bacteria that had eaten a hole in his heart the size of a dime, caused five strokes on both sides of his brain, and stole the vision in his left eye. St. Louis doctors saved his life. He had a prosthetic knee which had to be removed. He is still in a wheelchair. Now ObamaCare (Affordable Care ACT) has stolen his health care.

“I get this notification that I’m going to lose my insurance,” he said. “This insurance that I bought, that I purchased, and I was paying a good premium, (and) covered most everything.”

Hoft, who is still in a wheelchair, said he has a number of “major surgeries” in the near future and was “very pleased” with his insurance of choice.

“So to get this news on top of my recovery, on top of trying to make a living, has been obviously a very difficult thing to take on at this time,” he said, the emotion clear in his voice.

Hoft has written about Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’ assertion that people who have lost their insurance are “thrilled” with the options they have available to them, and on Friday he repeated his message that she can “go to hell” because that is “absolutely not true.” Read more here.

Continued at The Blaze TV with Dana Loesch hosting:

“I don’t have the options I had,” Hoft told Loesch. “I pray to God that I get the same doctors, who saved my life three months ago. I pray that I’ll be able to see them.”

Thankfully, Hoft said, there are already “laws on the books” ensuring that someone in his condition doesn’t “get kicked off” their health insurance mid-treatment, but his health complications are not short-term.

Lord, hear my prayer,
listen to my cry for mercy;
in your faithfulness and righteousness
come to my relief.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.

Psalm 143 – Verses 1,2,8

  1. If this hateful message indicates the open mindedness and compassion of Dan Brown, then he’s a pathetic, empty shell of a human being and a sorry excuse of a man. I can only hope he realizes the error of his ways and finds a positive reason to live rather than his obviously negative reasons to offend an extremely ill fellow human being.

  2. Jim, I don’t know whether or not this will help, but my son’s employer left BCBS for some reason and went into a private exchange called Mercer to find a better plan. Bill was afraid it was connected to ObamaCare, because you do have to sign up, but they said they were not associated with ACA.

He opened an account today and his new coverage (that begins Jan 1, 2014) through the company he works with is very good and actually a few dollars cheaper than with BCBS. There are around fifty employers using Mercer and many well known insurance Companies have joined the exchange.

I don’t know how they treat preexisting conditions, but if you have employees, you might go in under a group plan as an employer. A list of insurance companies is on their website. Just have to look through the pages. The main link is here. http://www.mercer.com/pages/1526580. Good luck. God bless, and we are praying for you!
