Communist Radicals Turn On Police And Media In Charlottesville: ‘Cops And Klan Go Hand In Hand!’

The march to commemorate last summer’s Charlottesville rally was this weekend and it wasn’t pretty. It never is with communists and radicals. Black Bloc and Antifa were out in full force with their violence and hatred on display. It quickly devolved into cop-hatred. Just before the march, Antifa unfurled a banner that read, “Last year they came w/ torches. This year they come w/ badges.” This was to compare cops to white nationalists which is just obscene. “Why are you in riot gear? We don’t see no riot here,” Antifa members chanted Saturday evening. More than 200 protesters (actually it looked like way more than that) comprised of students, residents, communists, radicals and Antifa goons marched to another part of the University of Virginia’s campus, where many in the crowd shouted at officers in riot gear who had formed a line.

UVA Students United coordinator Kibiriti Majuto stated that students moved to another part of the campus because they didn’t want to be “caged” by police officers where they had planned to march. “How does that create a sense of community? How are we going to be safe in that situation?” he asked. Majuto claimed that the police “were not on our side” last year when white supremacists surrounded counterprotesters on the rotunda. “Cops and Klan go hand in hand!” he chanted. Looks to me as if the KKK are not the only racists here.

Enter Charlottesville city councilman Wes Bellamy. He claims to have tried to defuse the standoff. He told the police commander that the students were upset by the officers’ tactics, calling the officers’ riot gear “over the top.” I guess we know which side this guy is on and it’s not the side of the police. Many of the demonstrators started to walk away after a few minutes and there were no reports of arrests on campus. Before this encounter at the UVA rally, dozens of protesters marched off campus through other parts of the city, chanting things like, “Whose streets? Our streets,” and “Who do you protect? Who do you serve?” They dispersed when they made it to the downtown area.

While the march was going on, an NBC correspondent named Cal Perry was accosted by an unidentified man shouting: “F*ck you, snitch a*s news bitch. F*ck you,” as he grabbed the reporter’s camera. Gee, the media didn’t get any love from these radicals… looks like everyone hates them these days. Just minutes before that happened, Perry said he was verbally attacked a number of times, adding that protesters were attempting to “grab our camera.”

All of this is happening on the one-year anniversary of hundreds of white nationalists – including neo-Nazis, skinheads and Ku Klux Klan members – converging on Charlottesville. This was in response to the city taking down a monument to Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in a park there. They squared off with Black Lives Matter and Antifa. Both sides were violent and hateful, but in the case of the white nationalists, one of their members ran down a Black Lives Matter protester and killed her after barreling into a crowd of protesters. 32-year-old Heather Heyer died that fateful day. The day’s death toll rose to three when a state police helicopter that had been monitoring the event and assisting with the governor’s motorcade crashed, killing two troopers.

A University of Virginia professor and Black Lives Matter Charlottesville organizer named Lisa Woolfork told everyone who would listen that the police were mounting a “huge, overwhelming show of force to compensate for last year’s inaction.” “Last year, I was afraid of the Nazis. This year, I’m afraid of the police,” Woolfork fumed. “This is not making anyone that I know feel safe.” That’s unmitigated bull crap. If you are peacefully protesting you have nothing to fear from the police there. The left wants to demonize the police because they hate anyone with law enforcement that would uphold the rule of law.

As I stated last week, Antifa’s counter-protest website shutitdowndc.org is calling on members to “mass,” mobilize against white nationalist groups at Freedom Plaza, just down the road from where the Unite the Right 2 rally will be held. “This is for Heather Heyer, ICE abolition, open borders, dismantling the prison industrial complex, and ending the settler colonial system,” the website description reads. “We will confront fascism, antisemitism, Islamaphobia, white supremacy, and state violence on August 10-12.” I think that’s pretty clear, don’t you? Antifa is classified as a terrorist group… they should be treated as such.

Additional events marking the anniversary of Heather Heyer’s death are also expected today in both Charlottesville and Washington, D.C. Heyer’s mother, Susan Bro, said in an interview with the Associated Press that she has been dreading the anniversary of her daughter’s death for months. “You let the wave wash over, and you don’t chase it. You let it go and you’re OK until the next one comes,” she said. “But today, I feel like high tide is in.” I can understand why she feels that way.

It’s unknown how bad today will get but Commentary’s Noah Rothman responded yesterday with just four words: “Tomorrow will be bad.” If Antifa gets their way, it will be.

  1. ANTIFA, BLM, other globalist communist scum are there ONLY to incite violence in the face of a legitimately staged public demonstration.

    Doesn’t matter by whom.

The only violence I’ve ever seen or heard of is from the communist street thugs.

Self-defense is NOT “violence” initiated, but legitimate violence of action.
