I apologize for this update being late. A lot has been going on since Garry has had his surgery. It went very well and in fact, I believe, saved his life. He’s almost his old normal self. He’s gained eleven pounds and has color again. His voice is back and he is up and around for most of the day. He’s been okayed to drive again as well.
They had to replace his chest port for chemo because it was not drawing blood. So, we went in and had that done. The other side that is not working will require angioplasty to unclog the vein since a fiber sheath has grown in there. It is a relatively minor procedure and we are waiting to hear on a schedule for it.
Chemo resumes on Monday. There should be three more treatments… one every two weeks. Then there will be a scan to see if the chemo has gotten rid of the node in his lung. So far, it hasn’t according to the last scan as far as I can tell. If it is not gone, cyberknife surgery will be done on the lung – that is a very targeted form of radiation. Then there will be the final surgery to remove Garry’s rectal tumor and close up below. God willing he will be in remission and this will be behind us.
If you want to help Garry out, one of our daughters put up a GoFundMe page and we have already met our goal but it is being extended for additional costs – she increased it by two grand to help with final medical expenses and moving. You can donate here. You can also donate on PayPal. My email there is terresa@tmonroe.com or you can use the PayPal link on the upper right side of NoisyRoom.net to get there. If you would like to donate some other way, email me at terresa@noisyroom.net and I’ll send you instructions.
It looks like all of our prayers are being answered so far. The costs are intense, so if you can contribute, we would be very grateful. As soon as the treatments are done, we are heading back west to Reno to live in my son’s townhome. I may even kiss the ground when we get there.
Thank you to all of you… you all have been one of the biggest blessings of our lives. We could not get through this without you!
