Garry’s white blood cells finally bounced back some and then dropped again. His red blood cells were at 8.1 last week which triggered another transfusion. Two days after that on Friday he was at 7.8. The doctor wants to know where the blood is going and another transfusion of two units of blood should occur tomorrow. We have also increased his pain killers.
The cancer doc has stopped Garry’s chemo treatments for now. He’s completed two out of five but they are just too harsh on him. He would up in a wheelchair and is now mostly bedridden and I am taking care of him. His pain levels in the bathroom are off the charts but when he is lying down the pain mostly goes away.
The doc says we have to get the pain under control and after looking Garry over they think he has a wound rectally. They have to heal that because he could get a massive infection from it. So, not only will Garry see a wound specialist this week, he will meet with his surgeon.
Surgery will happen either this week or next week and Garry will be in the hospital three or four days at least. After the tumor is removed and a bag is attached most of the pain should be gone and he can heal and continue with treatments. He still has to have a cyberknife surgery on his lung as well.
Garry is in good spirits and has a good appetite even though he has lost more than thirty pounds now. He’s joking, lucid and alert.
If you want to help Garry out, one of our daughters put up a GoFundMe page and we are just over two-thirds of the way to our goal. You can donate here. You can also donate on PayPal. My email there is terresa@tmonroe.com or you can use the link on the upper right side of this site to get there. If you would like to donate some other way, email me at terresa@noisyroom.net and I’ll send you instructions.
Prayers are always appreciated and please pass this along to others on social media. As you know, I was banned on Facebook for being the editor of Right Wing News so I can’t post this there. It would be greatly appreciated.
Although Garry’s journey through this has been rough, we wholeheartedly believe he will get through it. Thank you to all of you for your prayers and donations. The GoFundMe account is not at $4729 of the $6000 we need to raise.
Good luck to you.
All things through God.
