Special Edition for the “Great Democrat Party DACA Government Shutdown of 2018”
TRIGGER ALERT: For social justice snowflakes and Progressive useful idiots – before you proceed further and get your knickers in a knot and pass-out from the vapors – the proposals in following piece incorporate a meaningful dollop of tongue-in-cheek, which an online dictionary defines as “characterized by insincerity, irony, or whimsical exaggeration.” We understand that having coming up through the modern Progressive-controlled education system, your budding sense of humor was crushed, displaced by a humorless sense of zealous self-righteousness – in other words, “social justice warrior-dom.” (Say that phonetically. Just kidding. Maybe.)
We also recognize that, as a consequence, most of you have been conditioned to be binary-thinkers, devoid of a capacity to ponder complexity, degree or nuance. Consequently, your binary analysis limited to: “Whatever I’m instructed is Progressive is good, and whoever doesn’t 100% buy-in to that is a [fill-in the blank] “____ phobe” or “hater.” While we feel sorry for you and your stifled development, we must not allow that to dictate public policy.
Tongue-in-cheek, parody and sarcasm are all legitimate means for advancing public debate, and in the crucible of such debate the ability to arrive at better ideas that can stand the test of scrutiny, and consensus on solutions and public policy. In an earlier age young people, even at elementary school level, were introduced to such concepts via things like MAD Magazine, which would poke its finger in the eye on a “bipartisan” basis:
Also, in an earlier age, young people would, as they matured, go through a “liberal” stage when young, but then grow out of it, becoming more conservative as they grew more experienced, seasoned by the realities of making one’s way in the real world. It would seem that Progressive educators and thought-leaders recognized this, and so adapted to counter such personal growth by developing K-12 and college curricula that operate to mold their young captives into limited, binary thought processes, so that they would remain in their naïve, “liberal” state for life. If you are among those so victimized, you may approach reading this piece as a beneficial “consciousness raising” exercise. As you proceed, ask yourself questions such as: “Are there nuggets of truth underlying these outrageous proposals?” “Might there be some legitimate points that are being made from the other side?” “Are we too rigid on our side … are there fallacies underlying our reasoning?” “If we continue to be so rigid in our open border positions, preventing common sense immigration policies, might we eventually drive a critical mass of the American public to embrace these tongue-in-cheek proposals, so that they become mainstream proposals?”
Expecting that going through this exercise will expand your horizons, in advance we reply to you: “you’re welcome.”
A Win-Win: Make “Dreamers” Built That Wall!
This is written on day one of the Great Democrat Party DACA Government Shutdown of 2018 (January 20, 2018). Illegal aliens are trespassers in this land, no matter at what age they came here. It matters not if individually they did not yet have had the capability of mens rea when they first arrived upon our soil (their parents, their then guardians, did)! Every “DACA” “dreamer” is now old enough to recognize (and so assume responsibility for) their illegal status. That they are lobbying for amnesty per se means that they now have mens rea. Meanwhile, their Democrat “advocates,” weaponizing demographics as they attempt to built an ethnic voting bloc on the non-assimilated, have their own mens rea. In both cases, it takes unmitigated gall to demand a gifting of legal status – then of citizenship – and then the “right” to bring in an expansive cadre of relatives.
But as in recent weeks we’ve witnessed the serenade of “dreamers” and Democrats and RINO’s, parading atop the admittedly heart-tugging plight of those who have no memory of other than of living in the United States, we’ve lost perspective regarding potential win-win solutions. Those exist. And could provide a comprehensive pathway to citizenship to ending the Great Democrat Party DACA Government Shutdown of 2018.
But before we get to that, let us consider a quick, inexpensive but effective border security measure that could serve as a stopgap until we complete the wall:
Yes! Minefields. Sí, se puede!
Certainly an effective deterrent, and a cost-effective one too – just think, we could dispatch several drug smugglers without the expense and bother or arrest, detention, trial and imprisonment. We needn’t even mine the whole border, merely random areas (that we relocate from time-to-time). Just put the warning signs all across the southern border, and leave it to the coyotes to ponder the potential ramifications of their chosen routes. Once installed, the minefields are essentially maintenance-free. And can be installed at low cost – for example, some enterprising border state governors might have their National Guard incorporate laying / relocating minefields as part of their annual training exercises.
But, ultimately, we do need to build that wall. A comprehensive wall securing the length and breadth of our border. Here’s the deal: “dreamers” could earn green-card status by volunteering for a military-service length period of time to serve on the construction crews building the wall. The more “dreamers” who enroll, the faster the wall gets completed! The Davis-Bacon Act would be suspended for these purposes, and the volunteers would be unpaid (except, perhaps, for some small stipend along the lines of what prisoners get for work serving in federal prisons). Food (MRE or above) and shelter (tent or above) will be provided. Only upon completion of the wall across our entire southern border will the green card status for those who have completed their duty be awarded. Their spouses will also be eligible for green card status (if they’re really “dreamers” then their children here are already “legal” due to the anchor baby loophole).
In this way as well we do get foreign countries to (largely) pay for building the wall, as it will be built by their citizens’ labor, at below-market costs for the U.S. taxpayers. Meanwhile, those “dreamers” who don’t “do their fair share” toward building the wall will remain subject to deportation. Hasta la vista (non-anchor) baby!
How is this a win-win? Well, the so-called “dreamers” and their spouses get legal status (but not citizenship or voting rights). The wall gets built, quickly and at low cost – and that cost being largely subsidized by foreign countries providing the labor of their citizens in return for just room and board. Only the Democrat Party’s cynical effort to import voters would be left out in the cold – and that’s a win too! So overall is this not a MAGA-level win-win? Does not this qualify as an “art of a deal?” Yes indeed – sí, se puede!
