O’Donnell Closing in on Opponent in Latest Poll

Christine O’Donnell, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, is now within 11 points of her opponent, New Castle County Executive Chris Coons. It marks a 10-point jump following the debate on Wednesday at the University of Delaware.

The poll was conducted on Oct. 14 by Rasmussen Reports, and had a very scientific 500 likely voter sample. The results are as follows: 40% Christine O’Donnell 51% Chris Coons   5% Some other candidate   4% Not sure

Adding insult to injury from the Wall Street Journal:

Christine O’Donnell, Delaware’s Republican Senate candidate, surprised her Democratic opponent, Chris Coons, by raising more than twice as much money in the three months ending Sept. 30, according to the campaigns.

O’Donnell also has twice as much money in the bank for the final stretch of the campaign.

O’Donnell’s campaign and Federal Election Commission records show that the Republican raised $3.9 million in July, August and September; Coons reported raising $1.5 million.
