Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Burning Qur’ans

America’s involvement in Libya (not to mention Afghanistan and Iraq) is, as Mr. Scheuer points out, not “a wise practice of American statesmanship”—not at all.  In fact, whatever synonym for the opposite of “wise” you might care to mention, could be used to describe America’s attempts to democratize Muslim countries—stupid, asinine, foolish, boorish, misguided, lame, etc.  Thank you, Mr. Scheuer, for telling it like it is, MTFBWY.

I should mention at the outset of this article that because another article of mine raised related issues, I have copied a few paragraphs whole-cloth from the other article.  Faithful readers should take note, and be prepared for a possible déjà vu echo effect.  What the heck, the truth bears repeating.

America is now bogged down in three different “tar baby” wars to help democratize the Muslim world.  Allow me to suggest that America bring our troops home, and get our own house in order, before we even think about exporting “what we have” to other countries.

What is it exactly that the Muslim world is in such dire need of anyway?  Our floundering economy?  Our activist trial-lawyers and judges? Our racially bigoted DOJ?  Our corrupt and venal Congress?  Our pathetic educational/indoctrination system?  Our porno industry?  Hollywood?  Our tattered US Constitution?  What is it exactly, that is so precious, so important, so valuable that we absolutely must gift the Muslims with it?  I’m listening.

That’s what I thought.  So if America doesn’t really have that much to offer—until we get our own house in order—wouldn’t you say that should be our first order of business?  Otherwise all we are doing is exporting the mess, and not the message.

And what is our message, or rather, what should our message be?  The message is the US Constitution.  The message is free enterprise and capitalism.  The message is rule of law in a free republic. The message is one man, one vote.  The message is lost, and until we get it back we have no business at all in trying to straighten out anybody else’s house.

We should bring our troops home and deal with the threat the Islamists pose right here in America.  Right here, right now.  We need to deal with an invasion taking place across our southern border—right here, right now.  We need to deal with a corrupt and traitorous Congress—right here, right now.  We need to deal with an economy in a nose-dive—right here, right now.  We need to deal with a rootless, litigious, licentious culture—right here, right now.  We have quite enough on our plate right at home.  Right here, right now.

I am not saying that we should withdraw all of our troops from overseas.  We are, after all, involved in a global war with Islamists (not merely just terrorists).  But this suicidal nonsense of colonizing the Muslim world piecemeal has got to stop.

Where next?  The Ivory Coast?  Yemen?  The idiots who have embroiled our country in these overseas fiascos had better rethink their “strategy,” and quickly.

For example, how are we supposed to “win” in Libya?  The US has adroitly positioned itself so that If Mohamar Qaddafi wins, we lose.  If the rebels win, we lose.  And please don’t try and give me some song and dance about Islamic sharia being equivalent to Western democracy—it’s not, and never will be.

Besides, the United States was designed to be a republic, not a democracy; so if we are in the business of exporting anything, it should be free republics, not theocratic totalitarian “democracies.”

I don’t want to give anyone the wrong idea here—it is not like I’m an anti-war activist or something.  I mean of course I deplore war, any sane person does, but I feel that war is sometimes an unavoidable necessity.  However, I am also a firm believer in “get in, do your business, and get out.”  I’m from the Vietnam era—call me “gun shy,” regarding long-term, “hearts and minds,” overseas, military entanglements.

I’ve long ago had to make peace with the idea that brave and patriotic men and women can be misused, mislead, and misdirected, for less than noble reasons.  The fact that America “lost” in Vietnam doesn’t diminish in the slightest, the valor, integrity, and sacrifice of those who fought in Vietnam.  They didn’t fail—their country failed them.

Those who fought in Vietnam were not allowed to win that war—for political reasons—but that in no way takes away from their honor.  I feel the same way about those who have fought and/or died in our war(s) against the Islamists.  Their honor is intact, win or lose, that’s a given.

I respect our service men and women.  I especially honor those who have sacrificed physically, or mentally/emotionally (or spiritually) on behalf of our country.  And most of all, I honor those who “gave the last full measure,” and died in the service of the United States,  I am proud of them, and grateful for them.  May God bless them all, and their families.

But to keep pretending that America’s best interests are served by colonizing the Muslim world would disrespect not only the troops who are serving, it would dishonor the memories of everyone who has ever fought for the United States of America—from the Revolutionary War, on up until the present day.  If America falls, all of their sacrifices throughout the centuries—all of it—will have been for naught.

Am I for a long-term commitment to defeating the Islamists?  Absolutely, you bet.  Am I for a long-term commitment to “colonizing” the Islamic world?  No frigging way.  Here’s an idea: Bring our troops home from Afghanistan, and deploy them along the US southern border, and start kicking some drug cartel butt.  Now there’s a war that makes sense to me.

Bring our troops home and give them some sane ROE (Rules of Engagement), and leaders with patriotic hearts, leaders who take their oath to defend the Constitution earnestly.  The current crop of Pentagon officials seem all too emblematic of the species of “traitorous americanus” that currently infests our three branches of government, our media, academia, the military, and our country at large.

It is not part of the military’s job description to dictate national policy, of course, but neither is it their job to fecklessly acquiesce to absurd ROEs, ill-advised invasions, and suicidally asinine globalist agendas.  (Don’t get me started on the current effort to make the US military LBGT compliant.  (Link)

If you doubt that the US military has been “dumbed down and indoctrinated,” then I suggest you look into the behavior of the US Army before, and after, Islamist Major Nidal Hasan shot 32 people—13 of whom died.  The “walking on eggshells” treatment surrounding Hasan’s Muslim connections, speaks volumes about how deeply in denial certain elements of the US military are regarding who and what an enemy consists of.  (Link)

Whenever confronted face to face with the evil of Islamist radicalism, rather than react with judicious integrity, the military high-command has more often than not displayed a deluded dithering.  They have been politically corrected into spineless court eunuchs.  Oh they will strut and crow with the best of them, but they are spineless where, and when, it counts.

The military’s refusal to honor their oath to defend the US Constitution is abhorrent , and blatant.  We have a top-notch military officer sitting in Fort Leavenworth prison for daring to insist that he be given proof that his CINC is who he says he is.  The US Army’s betrayal, and rail-roading of LTC Lakin is beyond despicable.  It has all the rancid smell of the Dreyfus Affair, and the aura of Vidkun Quisling.  Does the term “misprision of felony” ring any bells?  (Link) (Link) (Link)

The current top brass of the US military—from Secretary of Defense Gates on down— should be reevaluated for integrity and patriotism, and the curriculum at West Point and Annapolis looked into, and revised as needed.  America needs for its warriors to be honorable patriots, not cunning corporate climbers with the proper politically correct credentials.

Is a coup by patriotic elements within the US military called for?  I pray it doesn’t come down to that—but I hope that plans are in place should it become necessary.  Make no mistake, the survival of the United States as a constitutional republic is in grave jeopardy.  If push comes to shove, certain elements within the US military must be prepared to act with alacrity and vigor to protect our country.

The manure will no doubt hit the fan following such a move, and we are not some banana republic for God’s sake, where such actions might be expected.  But as the US system of checks and balances moves inexorably toward being dissolved by a totalitarian political elite intent on a global hegemony, the s—t is going to hit the fan in any event.  Best to instigate such a happening at the choosing of patriotic elements within our military.  As I said, I pray it doesn’t come to that—but if come it must, then I say, “¡Viva la Revolución!”

One last time—we need to get our own house in order before we even think about exporting “what we have.”  Forget “Pax Americana,” we need to save “E Pluribus Unum.”

We don’t need to just “take America back,” or “draw a line in the sand.”  Following a time-honored tradition, it is time to take the United States that was given to us, and transform it into something greater, something better, than we received.  Something that we can pass on to future generations with pride.  We must restore the Framer’s vision of a vital, ever-evolving, pluralistic republic of laws and freedom, under God’s providence.  (Link)

Be that as it may, I would like to wrap up this article by addressing the topic of the recent burning of the Qur’an by Pastor Terry Jones, the subsequent riots in Afghanistan, and the politically correct response as typified by Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) comments.  (Link) (Link)

When did it become America’s national policy to tip-toe past the school-yard bully in hopes he might not notice us?  It is well known that the Islamists will demonstrate, riot, and throw fatwas at the drop of a hat.  If the poor dears are so overly sensitive to any slight, imagined or otherwise, then that is their f—king problem, not ours.  This “walking on eggshells” attitude has got to go.

For a patriotic response to the media/political-elite reaction to Pastor Jones’ Qur’an burning, you might want to check out Anne Barnhardt’s video on You Tube.  Anne brings her feminine charms into play, and discusses the topic in a much more sedate and reasoned manner then I ever would.  Personally, I think that the American media’s coverage of the situation, and most of the comments from our political elites has been deplorably wimpish, but what else are “we the people” to expect from “traitorous americanus?”  (Link)
